A New Adventure

Oh gee. I hadn't planned on going anywhere this summer, except maybe a road trip with some friends. However, the opportunity fell into my lap to spend six weeks teaching English in Ukraine. It is definitely going to be a stretch on my finances, but it wouldn't have been possible without the generosity of some very wonderful relatives of mine. Those six weeks will consist of three two-week sessions. Ages of the children range from 4-14, I think. My cousin, Haley, and I will be teaching the primary children, aged 4-7. We'll be teaching for three or four hours in the morning, and then have the rest of the day to explore the town of Boyarka and even take the approximately one hour train ride into Kiev. Due to much more good fortune and generosity, Haley and I also get to make a stop in Edinburgh, Scotland, on our way to Ukraine. We'll be visiting our other cousin, Allison, who is doing an internship with parliament there (some people). The stop will only be a few days, but I certainly am not complaining. After Ukraine, we get to visit Haley's roommate in her home country of France. We'll spend a few days in Lyon and a few days in Paris. I can't begin to express my excitement for this trip, but more importantly, my gratitude that such an opportunity has come my way! It will definitely stretch my finances, but it wouldn't even be possible without the help I have been given. So! I leave on May 30th and get home July 26th. I think I will have internet access, but probably not as readily as in London, so I will do my best to post stories and pictures right here. Interesting things are bound to happen this summer...
